Home Visits
We understand that visiting an optician isn’t always easy for everyone. Whether due to mobility issues or health concerns, the stress of getting out and about can sometimes feel overwhelming. But that shouldn’t mean missing out on essential eye care.
That’s why we offer a home visit service, bringing the high standard of testing and support you’d receive at our practice, directly to you, in the comfort of your surroundings.
Who can benefit from a home eye test?
Our home visit service is designed for people who find it difficult to attend our practice, including:
- those aged 60 and over
- people with mobility challenges or disabilities
- individuals with complex health needs
- people with dementia or severe anxiety
- residents of care homes or nursing homes
- those who are housebound or recovering from surgery
If you’re eligible, the service is often covered by the NHS at no cost to you. We can check your eligibility when you book a home visit.
If you’re not eligible for NHS funding, we can still arrange a private home eye test—just get in touch and we’ll be happy to provide pricing details.
What's included in a home visit?
Our at home services are as comprehensive and as detailed as the experience you would receive at our practice.
Full eye examination
We’ll carry out a detailed eye health check, vision assessment and pressure testing for glaucoma. We’ll also examine the retina and other eye structures and assess your prescription.
Personal service
The same optician will visit you each time, allowing you to build a comfortable, familiar connection with someone who understands your vision journey. Appointments are unhurried and tailored to your needs and you’ll receive clear explanations of any findings and recommendations.
Complete dispensing service
Your optician will bring a selection of frames for you to try. You will also receive expert styling advice and they will guide you through your lens options in detail. Lastly, they will take precise measurements to make sure your new glasses fit like a glove.
Your glasses delivered to your door
Once ready, we’ll deliver your new glasses in person for free. To make sure they fit perfectly, we can make any necessary adjustments on the spot.
We also provide ongoing support. Should you need any further corrections or have any concerns, we’re just a phone call away.
Convenient and stress-free
Our home visit service is designed to be as simple and convenient, while also thorough, as possible. Appointments are available from Monday to Friday and there’s no rush – we allow plenty of time for each visit.
